Welcome to my first post!

Welcome to Pooja’s Nook!

This is my first blog post. I have wanted to start a blog for a year or so now, however the timing has never been right. After receiving the Three Things Thursday emails from my two favorite blogs today (Love Laugh Mirch and Pink Chai Living): I immediately thought- if I don’t start the blog today, then when?

So here I am writing my first blog post and combining it with Three Things Thursday.

Three Things about me….

1: I am a 30 something year old living on Long Island, New York. Many Long Island locals refer to Long Island as “Strong Island”. I live about an hour away from the greatest city on earth: New York City! I have lived in New York practically my whole life. I grew up in a very tight knit Indian family.

2: This isn’t my first blog. While a freshman in college, back in the early 2000s, I started an online journal on Xanga.  Journaling allowed me to discover a world outside of my small circumference on Long Island/Strong Island. I was able to connect with other young Indians across the United States and Canada. I ended up meeting two wonderful ladies; one from Canada and the other from California, fast forward 13 years and they are both now two of my soul sisters.

3: Within twenty minutes of meeting me, you will be shown numerous photos and video clips of my nieces and nephews. I am a very proud Bhua (Aunt: Dad’s cousin-sister in Punjabi) and Massi (Aunt: Mother’s cousin-sister in Punjabi).  These nieces and nephews are the children of my cousins. My first nephew was born when I was in high school and I instantly fell in love. The newest munchkin was born last Saturday and coincidently both of them share the same name. As of today, there are a total of 16 nieces and nephews in my family. Each of the arrivals of the 16 children reaffirms my belief in my faith and God.

I am not certain how often I will blog or what my vision for this blog is; right now Pooja’s Nook is a work in process, I hope you will continue to read the blog as I discover a voice and vision for the blog.
